Galenicum has been awarded Business of the Year by the European Business Awards for companies with a turnover of between €26 and €150 million, thus acknowledging its project as one of the most successful and innovative in Europe. The 10 best companies in Europe were announced during the awards ceremony held on 27 May in Athens (Greece), which was attended by business leaders, politicians and academics from across Europe.
After two previous selection stages, with the participation of over 17,000 companies participating from 31 countries, the finalists from the 10 categories were judged by a prestigious jury formed by leading business and political figures, academics and entrepreneurs, who evaluated the written submissions, video entries and face-to-face interviews of the candidatures in order to choose the winners of the different categories. This year’s European Business Awards, the seventh in its history, included businesses from all EU member markets plus Turkey, Norway and Macedonia, with a combined revenue exceeding €1 trillion, equal approximately to the Spanish annual GDP.
Àlex Ollé, Erich W. Büchen and Joaquim Domingo, founding members of the company, attended the awards ceremony. During his appreciation speech, Ollé explained that Galenicum was born as a dream among three friends who "believed in manufacturing affordable, but at the same time, top quality medicaments, which would be affordable to as many people as possible across the world”. With regards to the consolidation of this project, he highlighted the fundamental role of the remarkable team at Galenicum, “without whose effort this dream would not have been possible”.
