The experiences of Sofía and Gabriel in the Hospital without Pain
September 20, 2016
On the 30th of November last year, Sant Joan de Déu Hospital and Galenicum presented the “Hospital without Pain” in minor procedures project. The ground-breaking project in Spain seeks to minimise the pain for the youngest patients as they are undergoing medical treatment. Pharmacological treatment and other techniques, such as distraction or having the parents present, help children confront their fear of pain.
Galenicum would like to share two videos on the experiences of two children who participated in the project - Sofía who is seven years old and four-year-old Gabriel.
Sofía, like many children, is afraid of needles, but thanks to the courage detector she gets through the small puncture successfully and with a smile. Gabriel must face very painful treatments but with the help of nitrous oxide and various distractions, they end with smiles.
