September 4, 2015
According to an article at Expansion newspaper on the last 28th of August, the pharmaceutical industry is booming again after years of stagnation thanks to the increase on the sales of generic drugs. Generics in Spain have doubled their sales from 2010 to 2014.
One of the main factors that has boosted this growth has been the adaptation by the Administration of different measures to reduce health expenditure and, on the other hand, the expiration of some important API’s patents such as omeprazole and atorvastatin.
Atorvastatin is actually at 5 of the 15 most sold generic drugs, selling over 5 million boxes along the first half of 2015. One of them, Galenicum’s atorvastatin.
